In conjunction with the October citywide read project, young budding interior designers are invited to participate in the Student Design Challenge for the planned new library.
Now that the City Council has chosen an architect, residents will have an opportunity to share their ideas about the amenities and design elements they want to see in the facility, which will be built on three acres of the former Oak Park Elementary School property.
In addition to attending one of the upcoming focus groups, young people who live or attend a K-12 school in Pleasant Hill may enter the design contest individually or as a team with up to four members.
Elementary school students should submit a proposed design for the children’s area of the library and older youngsters should focus on the teen area. A written description of fewer than 1,000 words must accompany each rendering. Submissions are due by Oct. 31 at the Pleasant Hill library, 1750 Oak Park Blvd.
The Friends of Pleasant Hill Library will award a $200 cash prize to the school of each winner in five categories. For more information about the contest, contact firstname.lastname@example.org
