While history typically shows that new libraries see a surge of activity around their opening, followed by a dip back to lower attendance, we are so pleased to report this is not the case in Pleasant Hill. In fact, 2024 saw record high attendance and participation! The Pleasant Hill Library reports that in 2024:
- 305,044 visitors came through the doors – that’s a 12% increase from 2023
- Over 172,000 hours of use – visitors are staying 10% longer
- 5,623 new library cards issued
- 358,458 checkouts – that’s 15% increase in borrowing.
- 212,947 ebooks
- 45% of all our books are checked out at any given time!
Special events also saw a big increase in 2024.
- The library hosted 693 events
- 59,980 participants came through the doors for these events
