The Friends of the Pleasant Hill Library is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that was founded in 1953 to support the Pleasant Hill Library. We raise funds through sales of books and other donated merchandise and use the profits to support Library programs and purchase essential supplies.

How We Raise Funds
For many years the Friends raised money primarily through periodic book sales at the Library and other locations. In 2020 we opened the Friends Book Store in Pleasant Hill, our first full-service retail book store. We now operate three retail book stores, where we offer high quality donated books, CDs, DVDs, puzzles, games, and other merchandise. Your Support is Essential
Although our book store profits provide the core funding we need to support Library programs, financial donations from the community are critical to our success. The Pleasant Hill Library Foundation, which is a committee within the Friends, raises funds to supplement book store profits. Learn more about how you can contribute today!
Our Governance
The Friends is managed by a Board of Directors, which meets bi-monthly. Click here to learn about our Board and our governing documents.

We are proud of what we have accomplished over the years.
Without support from our book store customers, donors, and volunteers, the Pleasant Hill Library would not be able to provide the diverse array of programs and services that draw hundreds of patrons to the Library every day. You can read our latest Annual Report below, which includes our financial statements and tells a compelling story about the contributions we are making to our community through our Library support.
